High Intensity LED
How to make a latching switch with override?
I need a latching switch circuit that relies on a beam of light from a high intensity LED crossing a road. If the beam is broken momentarily, I need another LED to turn on, and stay on until a button is pressed to override it. I have tried this in Yenka for th last 4 hurs, with no luck, as my transistor keeps breaking. Please help!
I now have the cicuit working, just without a latch.
You just use the same voltage that lights the LED to turn on a transistor. The transistor feeds voltage to the relay and back to a resistor connected to the base to keep itself turned on. You put a NC switch anywhere that would break the transistor's self sustaining current. You just have to compare the transistor's base and collector current limits with what you're running through it. Always design circuit that can handle twice the load you'll put on it.
