Light Hanging Lantern
hanging paper lanterns?
ok so I really want some permanent paper lanterns in my room, but I already have a (really ugly) central light fixture with a fan. Is there a way I can hook up the lanterns to the light switch and take off the lighty thing without like ripping out the ceiling?
The fan should be mounted just like any other light, but it is wired behind it, so you would need an electrician or someone who feels comfortable doing this (disconnecting, rewiring a new fixture). In other words, you would be unplugging the fan. It is mounted to brackets above your room, but it will not damage the ceiling in any way. You will need a new fixture -something simple because you're covering it with a lantern and an electrician. Go to a hardware store for the former, also make sure to get a low watt bulb so the lantern won't catch fire. I'd suggest a compact fluorescent.
