Outdoor Wall Lighting Fixture
turning a floriscent light ficture into a light you can plug into the wall plug in.?
we have no electric in our outdoor shed, so my husband wants to fix the floriscent light ficture that we have from a room in our house in the shed. He wants to fix it with a plug, like a lamp to plug into a regular wall fixture that you plug things into.......Has anyone ever done this and how would you do it?......He thought he had it fixed but somehow it didn't work. It has been stored in his shed for a few years,so we wonder if the ballast could be bad......Is there a way that we could find out it that is a problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Yes you can install a cord and plug to a fluorescent light fixture. If you are going a long distance you must use a larger gauge cord. Connect the black cord wire to the black ballast wire, the white cord wire to the white ballast wire, and the ground to a ground screw in the fixture. A ballast won't go bad just sitting around. Try new bulbs if it doesn't work after wiring it correctly. You can buy a new fixture with cord and plug connections very cheap.
