Why are we letting Chinese paramilitary thugs run through the streets of S. Francisco "protecting" the torch?
These blue and white jumpsuit wearing thugs should not be allowed to put their hands on American citizens. It is an act of war. What gives them this right? Why are we allowing this? In Paris and London they actually were manhandling police officers as well. I say if they touch one of the SF cops, that they should be tazed, bro!
If you walked through the crowded streets tomorrow roughing up people you would be put in jail. But it is OK if they do it and not our own police?

You are over-reacting to what should have been a normal ceremonial escort of security guards.
In past years, when the Olympic Flame has been carried throughout the world, a similar security escort from the Host Country has accompanied it without incident. The controversy over China's hosting the Olympics this year has created a different situation leading to your perception that this is somehow extraordinary.
It is not at all unusual when national treasure or artifacts are transferred abroad or national leaders travel that they are accompanied by security contingents from foreign countries. They coordinate with the security authorities in the countries within which they will visit. This would include whether they are allowed to carry arms, other ground rules, etc.
These same arrangements are currently being made in Washington, DC, for the upcoming visit of the Pope who will be accompanied by the Swiss Guard who are coordinating his visit with the US Secret Service and other US security authoriites.
