LED Aaa Flashlight
BATTERIES IN SERIES 2 123 lithium batteries that I am using to try and upgrade a flashlight. how?
The bulb is a 1000mA LED emitter with a forward bias voltage of 3.03 min. The batteries should in parallel but no room so they wil be in series, 123 batteries are 1400mAH, so at 1A they will only last .98 hours.
In parallel they would last twice as long. with a voltage regulator or a series resistance so that the led would only drop 3V why wouldnt the AH be 2800mAh since the led is still only 3.5W.
I said because since theyre in series capacity was not added only pressure (E), the added (E) is being wasted on the regulator or resistor.
Do I need to find a way to make them parallel or should I stick to 3 AAA in series parallel?
What kind of flashlight? If it's a 3xAAA type flashlight, the mA and W ratings are probably way overrated.
There's no way to make a 3xAAA series parallel work. You need at least 4 batteries.
If it's got a regulator and not just a resistor, it should drop the V down without wasting anything, so using 2x123 will last twice as long in series.
If you have the length for 2x123 and the diameter for 3xAAA, you can use one 3.6V 2800mAH 18650 Li-Ion battery. It's 18mmX65.0mm. That's what I did to my flashlight. It was made for 2x123 with a regulator to a 3V led. I removed the regulator and put one 18650. It's way brighter and last longer.
BTW Li-Ion cells could be 3.0V or 3.6V.
