LED Camping Light
Looking to build a alternate power...?
getting the idea from one of those led survival flash light that you shake.... i am no engineer, but i was wanted to use the same idea (magnet passing through coil) to create power, and some how building it up in a large capacitor..... i dont know how much energy this would create, and if its worth it.. but i just want a cheap way to charge my cell phone camping or something like that... so i came up with something looking like this...

i hope you are able to understand this, pretty much the coil with a magnet able to go throught to create energy with a cord conected to some sort of battery with a outlet attached.

I have 2 of those survival flashlights and they are terrible. You can shake them for 2-3 minutes just to have them last for 30 seconds or less. The light isnt that bright either. It makes for a decent signal to signal a plane or boat for help if you were stuck somewhere.
The magnet moving through the copper coil does produce electricity. It is similar to an electric motor. If you spin the electric motor by hand and hooked up a voltage meter to the leads coming off of it you would see that you are producing electricity but it is traveling backwards than if the motor was being powered. This is how hybrid cars work...when you hit the brakes the electric motors are engaged and spun sending a current back to the batteries to charge them.
I think that the best and simplest form of energy is wind or solar. They sell a $100 solar cell phone charger somewhere, look on ebay for "solar cell phone charger" (or something like that) and you will find it. you can also make your own but you must make sure that you have some sort of converter or regulator so that you dont blow up the battery on the cell phone. It would probably be safer to just buy the solar one off of ebay.
