White LED Flashlight
I took a 6V rechargable battery out of a flashlight and hooked it up to a white LED and it blew...?
How would I hook it up without using resistors, capacitors or a circuit board. Basically I want to be able to hook up LED lights directly to the battery without them blowing. What's the easiest way to figure this out? I think i read somewhere online something about how LED's take a certain voltage and if I hooked up a certain amount of them (maybe in series or parallel), depending on the battery that would work and not overload the LED's.... any advise please. thanks
You can not do it directly. You will need some components to accomplish your task.
You need to limit the current through the led automatically. A resistor will do this although you can do it with very precise voltage control. However, this method is not recommended as it is temperature sensitive and will never be the same setting twice.
Try a 220 Ohm resistor in series with the LED.
