String Light Set
My string of lights won't work for more than 2 hours. Why?
I have 5 strings of Christmas lights on our roof. (The manufacturer says not to string more than 3 sets together... but that's not enough for our roofline.) These have safety fuses and work for about 2 hours, and then quit. How do I fix this problem since the fuses keep blowing out?

The previous two answerers will burn your house down.
Never change the rated fuse to a higher one. There is a real danger that it would cause a fire.
Fuses protect the wiring. Too much current in a wire causes irreversible chemical reactions in the wire insulation and heat which can start a fire.
So either you will cause a short or a fire in the first line of lights.
There is a reason the manufacturer said a maximum of 3 sets. If you want to run 5 you will need another circuit. Run an extension line to another circuit.
