Color Changing Hummingbird Lights
Recently we have seen a unusual small, slender bird that appears to be iridescent blue-green in SE Tenn. ?
The color seems to change with the light. We noticed it near pastures, fields and woods. We've never seen a bird like this and at first thought it was an escaped pet! Body seems to be shaped more like a hummingbird but a little larger. What is it????
Twice this little bird landed briefly on the road in front of our car as we drove to work. We saw one in our back yard but it was gone before we could get binoculars or a camera.
We have quite a few indigo's around the house, as well are blue birds and Jays. The closes I've come is the Tree Swallow but I didn't notice any white and it was only one bird each time.
Could be a Humming bird or even a Sunbird,(but this one is not native to America and could be an escapee)it fits any of these two.
Where as the Hummingbird of which there are a few that migrate from North to South and vice versa in the seasons,in the U.S.A.
After what you have just stated ,it will not be a Hummingbird as they will not land on roads or the ground,so it's back to the book.
But without a picture it is pure guess work.
