Rock Spot Light
What temperature should I keep my Red Eared Slider's basking spot at?
I think since his basking light is so close to his rock it's keeping it too hot for him. I have a 75 watt bulb and I was thinking of just buying a bulb with less watts...would that work? Otherwise I'd have to lower the amount of water in the tank to have the rock farther away from the lights....
The basking spot should be a little warmer than the rest of the aquarium. Usually the water is 75-80 degrees F, air can be a little cooler, but the basking spot should be 85-100 degrees Fahrenheit. Hope this helps.
